What is One Million Acts of Green? We all know we should reduce our footprint right? But do you know what a foot print is? It is total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support our human activities, like heating/cooling our house, the stuff we buy and how we get around. It is usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2). Here is one link to a carbon calulator http://www.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.aspx
Once you know how big a foot print you have it will be much easier to see where changes need to be made. Great so now what? We can all do something to make our foot print smaller and there are now several places that help you first figure out how much of an impact your house is making and then you can start to make small changes to make less of an impact on our planet and that is where One Million Acts of Green can really help you out. The CBC and The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos have come up with a really neat yet simple idea they want to want to mobilize as many people as they can to do One Million Acts of Green.
They don't expect you to change your whole life around just do one thing of course they more you do the better.So one act from each individual will amount to a big to a million acts. You can do one act – or you can do all one million!
I urge you to go to thier site and sign up and get involved: schools and universities, cities and communities, business, politicians, and even celebrities. Spread the word together we can make an impact. One million acts of green, one act a time.
